The exclusive British fashion brand, Burberry burnt its unsold inventory

To prevent their unsold items from being stolen or sold cheaply, Burberry destroyed clothes, accessories and perfume worth £28.6m.

The brand sees demolishing goods as a way to preserve its reputation and exclusivity, and claims that this is an environmentally friendly method of disposing of items as they captured the energy produced.

Despite their high prices, Burberry shows no respect for their own products and the hard work and natural resources that are used to make them. Lu Yen Roloff of Greenpeace.

This was not the first time they’d put their exclusivity strategy in practice - this occasion took their tally of products destroyed in 5 years to £90 million.
